Everton Interested In Signing Lingard

Everton are interested in signing former Manchester United star, Jesse Lingard according to the Liverpool Echo and Paul Joyce

Lingard left Manchester United this summer after his contract expiring and his now a free agent and Frank Lampard has an interest in the attacking midfielder. The 29 year old made 21 appearances for United last season scoring 2 goals and managing 1 assist.

West Ham United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested with The Mirror now reporting that it is a battle between Everton, Newcastle and Tottenham after an offer from West Ham falling short of his wage expectations. Newcastle you would assume are the most likely to offer him a high wage.

I think it was only a matter of time before Jesse Lingard’s name was mentioned with Everton. Due to Everton’s financial situation and the recent signing of James Tarkowski it only makes sense that the blues are keeping an eye on who is on the free transfer market. Some will be massively for the signing of Lingard and some will be dead against it, a well experienced Premier League player who showed during his loan spell at West Ham in the 2020/2021 season that he can definitely make a massive impact when given a chance.

However asking for a wage possibly onwards of £125,000 per week, not performing all too well last season and turning 30 at the end of year might raise eyebrows from some as it seems Lingard is a hallmark Everton signing of the Moshiri era. In my opinion this is a transfer that I would steer clear of unless we can get a short term contract of 2 years agreed with a sensible wage to match. Somehow though I don’t think Lingard will be so keen.
