PREVIEW | Everton v Watford | Round 4 Carabao Cup

Everton have so far beaten Lincoln 2-4, and Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 in the cup whereas Watford’s only two wins this season have game in this competition, with victories over Coventry and Swansea so far.

Everton will be without Bernard following his knee injury sustained at Brighton, and will be without the Brazilian for between 4 and 8 weeks. JP Gbamin is Everton’s only other confirmed absentee, Yerry Mina remains a doubt, with Coleman returning from suspension. Bernard’s injury may pave open a way into the first team for Anthony Gordson, which is a small consolation.

With absolutely no idea who plays, I’ll predict this weeks team with what I’d like to see: Lossl; Coleman, Keane, Holgate, Digne, Delph, Davies, Richarlison, Iwobi, Gordon, Kean.

Injuries meant that Watford where forced to start their 0-0 draw against Bournemouth on Saturday without a recognised striker. With Danny Welbeck set to be sidelined for months with injury, Troy Deeney just back in training, that could be the same case against on Tuesday.

They don’t have any fresh injuries from their weekend fixture which means that they’ll most likely be without Etienne Capoue who only just rejoined training himself.

As far as cup ties go, this doesn’t scream entertainment, but as far as all Premier League ties go, it screams winnable. If we progress, we have a 25% chance of a league one or two side in the next round. It’s a great chance we must take against a side who have never won a major trophy, and never even won a game at Goodison Park. That saying, Watford will be desperate for a win, and the game will be no walk in the park.

Prediction. Everton 3-1 Watford
