Kieran Dowell Sheffield United

Serie A – Italy

Kevin Mirallas (Fiorentina)

Mirallas was brought off after an hour of his side’s 1-0 defeat at Empoli, missing a good chance despite having two shots on target otherwise.

La Liga – Spain

Sandro Ramirez (Real Sociedad)

Sandro was left on the bench for a 1-0 win at Deportivo Alaves. Major Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claimed this week that any chances of Sociedad signing him on a permanent deal, as was previously suggested despite him not yet scoring a goal, have ‘dissipated’. Brilliant.

Super Lig – Turkey

Henry Onyekuru (Galatasaray)

Onyekuru scored the opener in a big game against Besiktas, which Galatasaray went on to win 2-0. He had three shots on target and made a key pass as well in a star performance.

Premier Liga – Russia

Nikola Vlasic (CSKA Moscow)

Vlasic was suspended for his team’s 2-2 draw with Dynamo Moscow, amidst reports of a potential move from Besiktas to secure his signature on a permanent deal this summer.

Eredivisie – Netherlands

Cuco Martina (Feyenoord)

Still no game for Feyenoord this week, as Cuco recovers from an injury. Dutch reports suggest that the club will not exercise their option to purchase the defender this summer due to financial issues. Even better.

First Division A – Belgium

Yannick Bolasie (Anderlecht)

Bolasie set up the opener for Anderlecht’s 2-1 win over Standard Liege, and continues to be played up front for the Belgian side.

Super League – Switzerland

Shani Tarashaj (Grasshoppers)

Tarashaj wasn’t included in the matchday squad for his side’s 1-0 home defeat to FC St. Gallen 1879.

Scottish Championship

Shayne Lavery (Falkirk)

Lavery was also out of the squad for his team’s 3-2 win over Ross County.

Premier League

Oumar Niasse (Cardiff City)

Niasse was out of the squad as Cardiff were relegated from the Premier League with a 3-2 defeat at home to Crystal Palace.

Championship

Antonee Robinson and Beni Baningime (Wigan Athletic)

Robinson put in yet another strong performance since his return from injury in the 1-0 win over Millwall on the final day of the Championship season, making three key passes as well as excelling in his defensive duties. He really did hit some form straight after coming back into the team, showing strength of recovery which could bode well for his future.

Baningime, however, was nowhere to be seen yet again.

Ashley Williams (Stoke City)

Williams was left on the bench for the final day of his season and his final chance of playing whilst still on the books of Everton Football Club, Stoke’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield United.

Muhamed Besic (Middlesbrough)

Besic represented Middlesbrough for what will probably be the last time for 82 minutes of a 2-1 win at Rotherham United, and was given a good send-off by fans after impressive effort levels this season. He had a chance early on after a strong run forward but blazed over away from goal – which could sum up his Everton career if he is to leave this summer.

Joe Williams and Callum Connolly (Bolton Wanderers)

Connolly had a good game from central midfield despite a 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, having a shot blocked as well as dribbling past a player after the match was confirmed to go ahead following last week’s players’ strike. Williams was out injured.

Kieran Dowell (Sheffield United)

Dowell bagged a goal as the Blades celebrated promotion to the Premier League with a 2-2 draw at Stoke. He played in his preferred position of attacking midfield this time off the bench for the second half, and had a couple of shots on target despite not the best passing accuracy.

Mason Holgate (West Bromwich Albion)

Holgate was at right wing-back for West Brom’s 3-1 defeat at Derby County, and was threatening going forward in the first half but was largely penned back in the second.

League One

Luke Garbutt (Oxford United)

Garbutt was on the scoresheet for Oxford in their final game of the season, a 3-1 defeat at Luton Town. He bagged a rebound on the hour mark before being brought off with seven minutes to go.

Anthony Evans (Blackpool)

Evans was brought off at half-time of Blackpool’s 3-0 defeat to Gillingham after several wayward passes. He might benefit from some more time with David Unsworth’s under-23’s next season as he was finding some form there but has struggled at Bloomfield Road.
