Lucas Digne In Advanced Talks With Aston Villa

News breaking tonight from Sky Sports is that Everton Left Back Lucas Digne is in advanced talks with fellow Premier League side Aston Villa.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed today that a move to Chelsea was very unlikely for Digne as talks had not advanced and that Chelsea were trying to recall their Left Back, Emerson from his loan at Lyon.

As we all know Digne and Manager Rafa Benitez have had a falling out and the Spaniard come out in his Hull City Press Conference stating that Digne has asked to leave he club.

It is being reported on Sky Sports that Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa have beaten the likes of West Ham and Newcastle United to the signing of the French international Left Back. The transfer fee is yet to be agreed by the 2 clubs but is likely to be between £20/25 Million

Toffee Blues says;

5/5 – This one appears to have legs and seems very likely to happen. Villa will be getting themselves a good player who is well experienced, will create a lot of chances for them in the right system. £20/25M for Lucas Digne who has not long signed a new 5 year deal with the club doesn’t seem like an awful lot especially when you consider he was signed for £18M originally. Something to consider on the price is that Everton really have showed their full hand to any players at the table when it comes to Lucas Digne, Rafa Benitez making this whole saga very public and announcing that the player wants to leave will automatically drop his value as clubs know they can try and low ball the club.

I haven’t even discussed the fact that we are selling one of our better players in the squad to a team who’s current aim is the exact same as ours, to play European football. Strengthening a rival is no good for the club. In my opinion I feel like this isn’t a good deal for Everton. Some of you will agree, some of you will disagree. Please let us know your thoughts.
