November 2023 will be a month that will go down in Everton and football history for all the wrong reasons. A month that seen Everton punished by the Premier League and deducted 10 points meaning a drop to 19th in the table, only above Burnley by goal difference. Let us try and move on from that though and focus on the fixtures.
Everton ended the month in 19th, a 3-0 Carabao Cup win at Goodison against Burnley, a 1-1 draw against the ever impressive Brighton at home. The blues then travelled down to London to take on Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace and after a dramatic second half Everton came away with all 3 points in a brilliant 3-2 win. Finally the last game of the month had us take on Manchester United at Goodison, the first game since out points deduction, Goodison was rocking as “Premier League corrupt” banners and cards filled the stands. Typical that one of the best goals the Premier League will see this season silenced an angry Goodison to see us go onto lose 3-0, let’s not dwell on that one.
As always we move to the players to talk about who has impressed the most throughout the month of November, let’s begin
2nd – Jarrad Branthwaite – 1/17 votes
It is becoming the norm that Jarrad Branthwaite appears in our Player of the Month articles now, the lad continues to impress and pocket Defenders in each game. Branthwaite has come up against some brilliant attackers this season already and he has made it look easy to defend against, throwing in a slide tackle that will make Goodison roar. When Everton released Yerry Mina in the summer Everton fans were pinning their hopes on Branthwaite to be his replacement, a lot of pressure on a young lad’s shoulders. Jarrad has took it in his stride and gets better with each game. More of the same please JB
1st – Vitalii Mykolenko – 16/17 votes
It says something that the vast majority of our contributors have picked Myko as our Player of the Month for November. Since the start of the season the Ukrainian has been one of Everton’s most consistent players regularly putting in at least a 6/10 performance. Mykolenko’s best trait usually is his defensive side of his game but November has seen our Magic Ukrainian finally start adding more goals to his game. An early goal to give us the lead against Brighton at Goodison and Crystal Palace on the road it is brilliant to see Myko develop and become a more attack minded Left Back.
Mykolenko is a player since joining has split opinion and at a time Evertonians were asking for the club to sign a more senior and developed Left Back to take over. However Myko is shutting myself and them up and proving the doubters wrong. Keep up the brilliant performances Myko!
