Luton Town v Everton

Luton Town v Everton
Last week concluded a fantastic run of games that proved fruitful for us, it proved to be safety. Luton on the other hand are still fighting to keep their Premier League status. Can we extend are gap? or will Luton earn a precious result?

Everton Rewind

Man! we have clinched safety with time to spare. Everton defeated Brentford over the weekend with a single goal, that being from Gana Gueye. This match was pretty even throughout its entirety and looked to be a stalemate up until the 60th minute. Jordan Pickford made an incredible save against Toney to keep the game level and moments later Gana Gueye would play clean up crew on a corner and score his second goal of the month! Gana crashed into the box and buried the ball past the Flekken.

The goal would be the difference and would propel us to 15th, swapping spots with Brentford. Safety at last, Dyche and the rest of the team have really turned a corner earning 13 points in total over the month of April.

Luton Vs. Wolves recap

Luton Town were beaten at Molineux 2-1 with goals coming from Hwang and Gomes. Luton town deserved more from this match than they got. They were dangerous for large portions of the match but nothing fell in their favor. Hwang on the other hand, created his own space and his shot took a deflection underneath a Luton defender and trickled into the far corner of the goal. 39th minute goal gave Wolves a 1-0 lead going into half.

Wolves’ second goal was a display of terrible set piece defending and Gomes slipped into space and header a goal home, only about 8 yards from goal. Carlton Morris would pull one back late for the Hatters but it would not be enough. Luton Town are on the outside looking in and will need to play their way out with only a handful of games left.

EFC key player

Dwight Mcneil has been playing lights out during the month of April and I hope it continues. He has a goal and assist in his last five matches but more importantly he has been one of the better players on the pitch, on and off the ball. He’s averaged three tackles per game and tallied four interceptions as well. His work off the ball is key to how Dyche wants to play and the eye test does not lie, he is very important to this side.

Luton Town key player

Ross Barkley has revitalised his career with Luton and could possibly be in the conversation for the England Euros campaign. Barkley has scored 5 goals in 30 matches so far in the Premier League season. Barkley on average passes the ball 47 times during a match with a pass completion rate of 84.32%. He also plays 1.5 key passes each game which leads to significant scoring chances. He is the danger man with the ball for Luton and is not afraid to take a shot from just about anywhere on the pitch. His stats are quite impressive and would be a nice fit at majority of top half clubs in the prem.

Final thoughts

It would be nice to earn more points on the season but I would also like to see some of the younger players feature and receive some minutes. We need to let some guys rest a bit longer and with safety being clinched last weekend, maybe Dyche can rotate the roster a bit if we have the depth for that.

I do believe even if we play younger players we have the quality to get a result on the road. BUT what if,we let Luton win and hope Forest lose out and push them into relegation. Forest deserve nothing less than relegation for their complaining.
