Loan Report | Week 9

Bundesliga

Jonjoe Kenny – Schalke

Kenny’s Schalke were beaten 2-0 at Hoffenheim last weekend, and the right-back played 86 minutes before being replaced. He spoke to The Athletic this week about settling in well in Germany, and his manager David Wagner added that Kenny is ‘close to being a fan favourite already’ at the Veltins-Arena.

La Liga

Sandro Ramirez – Real Valladolid

Sandro came off with a hamstring injury during Real’s 3-2 friendly win over Salamanca CF UDS, meaning he missed the 1-1 draw at Athletic Bilbao and will likely miss the remainder of the month as well at least. From bad to worse.

Eredivisie

Shani Tarashaj – FC Emmen

Tarashaj returned to squad training this week following his recent injury so I look forward to reporting his first piece of game action in quite a while to you in due course.

Belgian First Division A

Fraser Hornby – KV Kortrijk

Hornby played 86 minutes of his side’s 2-0 win over Saido Berahino’s SV Zulte Waregem last weekend, and seems to be forming solid partnerships with several of his teammates whilst establishing himself as KV’s starting lone striker in a familiar 4-2-3-1 system…

Primeira Liga

Yannick Bolasie – Sporting CP

Bolasie started Sporting’s 2-0 Taça de Portugal defeat at FC Alverca, but was substituted after just under an hour. He is due to play in this evening’s Europa League clash with Rosenborg.

Premier League

Muhamed Besic – Sheffield United

Besic was again an unused substitute as Sheffield United beat Arsenal 1-0. He’s not getting into that Blades team unless there’s an injury to one of Chris Wilder’s regular starters, unfortunately.

Championship

Kieran Dowell – Derby County

Dowell didn’t get off the bench in neither of Derby’s 3-0 defeat at Charlton Athletic nor their 1-0 win at home to Wigan Athletic. Not very athletic at all, really, is it…

Joao Virginia – Reading

Pretty grim reading (pardon the pun) for Virginia also, who didn’t even make the squad for both of Reading’s games last week, a 1-0 win at home to Preston North End and a 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers.

Josh Bowler and Matthew Pennington – Hull City

Bowler made a late cameo in the 3-2 defeat against former club Queens Park Rangers last weekend, but couldn’t manage to make an impact and was booked for a foul at the death. Pennington remained on the bench.

Pennington didn’t make the bench for the 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest in midweek, while Bowler stayed on it this time.

League One

Luke Garbutt – Ipswich Town

Garbutt’s form has cooled this week, as he had a difficult game defensively in the 2-0 defeat at Accrington Stanley, despite making three key passes, and wasn’t much better in the 2-0 home defeat to Rotherham United. Well, you can’t be curling in thirty-five yard free-kicks every week.

Nathan Broadhead – Burton Albion

Broadhead made four key passes in Burton’s 4-1 defeat at Fleetwood Town, but was brought off after 69 minutes from his role on the right wing. He had a brighter game in the 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon, playing the full 90 minutes having three shots on target despite missing a big chance.

Scottish Premiership

Korede Adedoyin – Hamilton Academical

Adedoyin continues to work with the reserve side up in Scotland, trying to work his way into the first team after last week’s goal.
