Hello, and welcome to another loan report. It’s been a double game-week for many young Blues in the EFL, let’s see how they got on.
League Two:
Billy Crellin- Accrington Stanley- 24th out of 24
Crellin made his league debut for the club in Accrington’s 2-1 defeat at Cheltenham Town in midweek.
Having been back-up to Michael Kelly for the first seven games of the season, the 24-year-old was given the nod to start at Whaddon Road.
Accrington have had a disastrous start to the campaign, sitting rock bottom of League Two and winless after eight matches.
The goalkeeper will hope to keep his place as they face fellow strugglers Morecambe on Saturday.
Jenson Metcalfe- Chesterfield- 10th out of 24
Metcalfe was relegated to the bench for each of Chesterfield’s games this week, featuring just 27 minutes between both fixtures.
The 20-year-old midfielder was an unused substitute in the Spireites’ 3-0 away win at Doncaster Rovers, before being brought on midway through the second half in a 2-2 draw with Bromley.
Paul Cook’s side host Walsall next, with the loanee seeking a return to the starting line-up.
Francis Okoronkwo- Salford City- 20th out of 24
Okoronkwo continued his run of games, playing against both Tranmere Rovers and Newport County.
The young forward was subbed on after 12 minutes in Friday’s draw at Prenton Park, replacing the injured Ryan Watson in a goalless encounter.
The former Sunderland-man then kept his place in Karl Robinson’s XI, featuring 63 minutes in a 3-1 away defeat to Newport.
Salford take on Wimbledon on Saturday.
League One:
Tyler Onyango- Stockport County- 5th out of 24
Onyango was back in the team for last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Barnsley, being selected at right back by Dave Challinor.
The 21-year-old endured a tough afternoon at Oakwell, conceding an early penalty before being taken off at half-time.
Onyango was then absent from the matchday squad for the first time this season, in a 2-0 win at Shrewsbury Town.
Stockport are back at home this Saturday, with Wigan Athletic to come next.
Harry Tyrer- Blackpool- 6th out of 24
Tyrer continued his impressive start to life at Bloomfield Road with another pair of solid performances against Burton Albion and Lincoln City.
The goalkeeper recorded his second clean sheet on the spin against the Brewers, and was seconds away from making it three, denied at the death by Tom Hamer in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Lincoln.
New manager Steve Bruce remains unbeaten since taking the job, a run coinciding with Tyrer’s introduction to the side.
Blackpool travel to Mansfield on Saturday.
Championship:
Mason Holgate- West Bromwich Albion- 4th out of 24
Holgate is still awaiting his first appearance since returning to the Baggies, having been an unused substitute twice again last week.
The defender watched on as Carlos Corberan’s men lost their first games of the season, suffering back-to-back defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough.
West Brom are back in action on Saturday, meeting Millwall at the Hawthorns.
Scottish Premiership:
Elijah Campbell- Ross County- 7th out of 12
Campbell played the full 90 minutes at left wing-back, in a 1-1 draw to Hearts.
Ross County led for much of the game, before being pegged back by Lawrence Shankland’s 96th minute equaliser.
A point at Tynecastle leaves them 7th in the table with a visit from Celtic next.
Ligue 1:
Neal Maupay- Marseille- 3rd out of 18
Maupay was a late substitute in Marseille’s first defeat of the season, losing 1-0 away to Liam Rosenior’s Strasbourg.
They face Angers next.
Challenger Pro League:
Reece Welch- Deinze- 5th out of 16
Welch is still yet to feature for his new club, however was in the squad for the first time since joining in a 0-0 draw with Lokeren-Temse.
The defender will be hoping for a debut in Deinze’s next clash at Patro Eisden on Friday night.
