REPORT | EVERTON WOMEN 2-1 BRIGHTON WOMEN

Everton’s home Women’s Super League season came to a successful conclusion thanks to a goal from Hanna Bennison in stoppage time to give the Toffee’s a 2-1 victory.

Just after the 30 minute mark, Katja Snoeijs extended her impressive scoring streak by scoring the game’s first goal. However, Katie Robinson levelled the score on the final play of the half.

The second half was frantic as both teams searched for the victory. Everton had many opportunities in the penalty area in the 71st minute, including an overhead kick, but tough Seagulls defending once again denied them. Lee Geum-Min, came close to scoring for Brighton but was denied by a spectacular diving save from Emily Ramsey.

Everton found their winner in the 2nd minute of injury time. Amidst a number of Brighton defenders, Hanna Bennison found herself on the outskirts of the box and found space to score the match winner for Everton, setting off wild celebrations in Walton Hall Park.

Player of the match for me has to be Nicoline Sørensen, by far her best performance in an Everton shirt this season.

The Toffee’s travel away to Manchester City on Saturday the 27th of May, for the final game of the WSL season. Kick off is at 2.30pm.
