Finney Signs First Blues Deal!

George Finney Signs New Everton Contract

George Finney has signed his first professional contract with Everton, penning a two-year contract until the end of June 2027.

The 18-year-old has been with the Club’s Academy since the age of six, and has spent the past two seasons working through his scholarship with the Under-18s under head coaches Leighton Baines and Keith Southern.

A boyhood Evertonian who lists James Tarkowski as his favourite Blues player, Finney scored his first goal for the Under-18s in April 2024 with a neat finish against Liverpool at Finch Farm.

Finney, who cites his crossing ability as one of his key strengths and Cafu as his footballing idol, made 20 Premier League Under-18 (North) appearances last season.

The youngster was also part of the Under-18s side that took to the Hill Dickinson Stadium pitch in February as part of the first test event at the Club’s brand new home.

Finney, who made his Under-21s debut in February in a Premier League 2 match against Southampton, started pre-season at Finch Farm with the rest of the squad last week and is looking forward to making the step up next campaign.

“I’m buzzing!” Finney told evertonfc.com. “I joined Everton at the age of six and I’ve been here ever since.

“It’s something I’ve worked for since I started playing football and it’s a big milestone in my career.

“Paul Tait just tells me to do what I do best, which is to get up the pitch and get crosses into the box.

“My aim now is to be to be a starter in the Under-21s, and hopefully get a bit around the first team.”

Finney joins fellow defenders Aled Thomas and Luca Davis, midfielder Harvey Foster and striker Ceiran Loney in signing maiden professional contracts with Everton.
