Player Ratings | Everton 2-6 Tottenham

Jordan Pickford – 3

You just can’t concede six goals at home. The mix-up with Kurt Zouma seemed to affect the goalkeeper as his head went down for the rest of the game.

Seamus Coleman – 3

Really poor from Coleman. Doesn’t seem to run at players any more, and defensively at fault on several occasions, looking massively inferior to Heung-Min Son who he’ll have nightmares about tonight.

Michael Keane – 4

Didn’t have much protection at all from neither Coleman or his midfield, but too slow for a sharp Spurs forward line today. Exposed and massively struggled.

Kurt Zouma – 3

Arguably more at fault than Pickford for the embarrassing misunderstanding as the centre-back didn’t even see his keeper coming out. Ran ragged all afternoon.

Lucas Digne – 5

The only defender to come out of this one with any credibility, but still left his centre-backs exposed on a couple of occasions. Provided some good balls in as usual.

Tom Davies – 3

Not good enough in possession, and didn’t provide anywhere near enough protection for his defenders. Everton massively missed Idrissa Gueye in this one due to Davies’ defensive shortcomings.

Andre Gomes – 4

Not what we’ve come to expect from Gomes, who was also guilty of leaving his defenders exposed for much of the game. It looked like there was no Everton defensive midfield at times, but the pressing tactics were completely topped all round by Spurs today. Limped off before an hour had passed, hopefully it’s nothing serious.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – 6

The best of a bad bunch for Everton today. Took his goal well, but was part of a midfield that was completely overran. Played more like a second striker though with the pressing.

Theo Walcott – 5

Finally got the goal that will hopefully boost his confidence in front of goal, and got around well but couldn’t make it count today unfortunately. Overran by Son on his side as well as Coleman.

Richarlison – 4

Too anonymous in this one. Back out on the left where he is arguably more effective, but that certainly wasn’t the case today.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 5

Good first half performance, used his strong frame well against Davison Sanchez, and had a disallowed goal that should have been allowed. Anonymous in the second half, though.

SUBS

Morgan Schneiderlin – (Gomes, 53) – 5

Not the best chance to stake his claim to stay at the club for the coming transfer window.

Bernard (Richarlison, 75) – 5

Tried a few things, but nothing really came off.

Cenk Tosun (Sigurdsson, 83) – N/A

No time to affect the game.
