Player of the Month – January 2026

Another late draw on the Player of the Month, a weird month of fixtures and results yet again but let’s look back at January’s performers and who stood out.

3rd Place – Jordan Pickford – 1 vote

Just the single vote for our number one who is usually a player who pulls in more votes but a dip in performances has been highlights recently. Pickford however pulled off a couple of standout performances in January especially in the 1-0 away win against Aston Villa where some crucial saves meant we came away with the 3 points. Hopefully more of them performance throughout the rest of the season.

2nd Place – James Garner – 2 votes

Everton’s Mr Consistent this season. James Garner has been crucial for the blues and the way we play, if Garner has an off-game Everton look to have an off game also. Garner stood up when needed and took the penalty in the dying moments of the FA Cup match against Sunderland at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, hitting the back of the net and sending us to Extra Time.

We will be needing more from Garner for the rest of the season if we are to try and achieve European qualification

1st Place – Thierno Barry – 19 votes

Everton’s main striker had a mix month to say the least but still was the standout performer throughout January. Barry ended January scoring 3 goals in 6 games, much improved form considering his first Everton goal only came at the start of last December.

His month started off with a consolation goal against Brentford in the dying moments surely gave him a little more confidence. Then an embarrassing penalty miss in the shoot-out defeat to Sunderland has had some fans question his longevity as Everton’s leading striker.

Come the end of the month Barry slowly looks like he is finding his feet in the Premier League but Everton fans will have to be patient. His winner against Aston Villa in the 1-0 win at Villa Park showed that he can be instinctive and take chances when they come to him but we need to be seeing a lot more of those finishes. His other goal against Leeds again acting on instinct. The job of an Everton striker is hard but in the mean time it is Barry’s position to lose.

He has now till the end of the season to prove to not just the fans but David Moyes that he can push Everton on and score the goals needed for that.
