Everton have signed goalkeeper Tom King from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a two-year contract until the end of June 2027.
The Wales international becomes the Blues’ seventh signing of the summer transfer window, following the permanent acquisitions of Charly Alcaraz, Thierno Barry, Mark Travers, Adam Aznou and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and loan addition of Jack Grealish.
King arrives on Merseyside with a wealth of experience across the English Football League and Premier League, having previously represented Millwall, Newport County, Salford City, Northampton Town and Wolves, along with loan spells at Welling United, Braintree Town, Stevenage and Wimbledon.
While with Newport, King set a world record for the longest-range goal in competitive football when his kick from 96.01m found the net against Cheltenham Town in 2021 – beating the previous best set by ex-Toffee Asmir Begovic for Stoke City.
King made his senior international debut in June 2024, featuring in a friendly match against Gibraltar.
The 30-year-old shot-stopper spent the past two seasons at Wolves and was handed his Premier League bow in May of this year against Brentford.
After joining Everton, King said: “I’m absolutely delighted to join Everton. From the moment I heard of the interest, it’s all I have thought about.
“We have two extremely good goalkeepers here in Jordan [Pickford] and Travs [Mark Travers] and a young keeper in Harry [Tyrer]. My job is to push them as far as possible.
“The chance to learn off someone like Jordan, who has been England’s number one for so many years, is a really big thing for me. I’ve come from a great goalkeeping unit already and I’m walking straight into another one at Everton.
“It’s a chance to learn off Jordan and Travs, support Harry as much as I can, and, with my experience of playing through all the leagues and experiencing international football, help keep levels high every single day.
“It’s such an exciting time for Everton, with the world-class stadium, too, and I can’t wait to get going and be a part of it.”
