TOFFEES SIGN ORNELLA VIGNOLA

Ornella Vignola Signs For Everton

Everton have signed Spain Under-23s winger Ornella Vignola from Liga F side Granada.

The 20-year-old talent becomes manager Brian Sorensen’s second addition of the 2025 summer transfer window in what has been an exciting week for the Blues following the arrival of Dutch midfielder Rosa van Gool, and Kelly Gago, Aurora Galli and Lucy Hope all penning new deals.

A tricky forward who loves to take on her opponent, Vignola also produces end product and has scored four goals in her past three games for Spain’s Under-23s.

The youngster, who will wear the number 18 shirt for the Toffees, started her career at Barcelona, featuring in the Champions League for the Catalan giants in 2021/22.

Now relishing the challenge of playing in the Women’s Super League, Vignola spoke of her excitement at making her debut and playing under boss Sorensen.

“I am very happy to join Everton,” Vignola told evertontv. “I am really looking forward to getting to know the team and the fans, and to play and contribute as much as I can.

“The English league is well known for its competitiveness and I’m really looking forward to making my debut. I am super excited about this new challenge.

“It is a great opportunity for me, I am really looking forward to getting to know Brian and the way he works. I hope I can get a lot of minutes under him and be a key part of this team.”

Despite her young age, the Montevideo-born winger boasts an impressive trophy cabinet, having lifted the Under-19 European Championship and Under-20 World Cup.

The latter was won alongside new Blues teammate Inma Gabarro, who, among other familiar faces including Toni Payne and Martina Fernandez, recommended Everton to Vignola.

“Having former teammates who are here can help me with the language and settling in. I’m really looking forward to seeing them again and sharing a dressing room with them once more,” said the forward.

“I spoke to Inma, Toni [Payne] and Martina [Fernandez]. All three of them agreed Everton is an incredible club. I already knew that, but they reaffirmed it.

“The people I spoke to told me about the fans and spoke very highly of them – I am really looking forward to meeting them.

“Also, Inma scored a lot of goals at the World Cup so I am looking forward to playing together again! I know we make a good duo and hopefully that will bring us a lot of success.”
