REPORT| West Bromwich Albion Women 0-5 Everton Women

Everton powered into the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup with a convincing 5-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the Alexander Stadium.

Yuka Momiki led the charge in the first half netting a brace, before Ornella Vignola, Toni Payne and Issy Hobson added to the tally in the second period with a flurry of goals in four minutes.

It took just nine minutes for the visitors to break the deadlock, Momiki ending a move she initiated after intercepting a pass in midfield. Surging towards goal, Payne threaded the ball towards the Japanese international who finished the move drilling the ball into the far post.

Everton’s momentum never let off, with Payne instantly setting her sights on a second when Clare Wheeler pushed a long lofted ball towards her, but Charlotte Clarke was alert to smother her strike from a tight angle.

The Baggies shot stopper remained busy, vitally collecting Maz Pacheco’s effort after her curling strike struck the far post and almost deflected across the line.

But the Blues’ front-foot play prevailed, and Momiki completed her deserved 34th minute brace in fabulous fashion unleashing a sumptuous strike from the edge of the box after driving forward from midfield.

The Toffee’s matched their first half intensity after the break, with Vignola igniting a positively chaotic four minute spell in the 50th minute.

Melissa Lawley cut-back a dangerous ball towards an unmarked Vignola, who capitalised by neatly firing into the top corner from the centre of the box.

The experienced attacker then registered her second assist three minutes later, squaring a short pass to Payne to allow her to net from close range.

Life-long Evertonian Hobson wrapped up the scoring minutes later, finishing past Clarke before wheeling off in celebration.

The Blues are back in action on Friday 23 January, kicking off a WSL double-header at Goodison Park.
