Everton made it three wins on the bounce securing a comfortable 1-0 victory over West Ham United at Goodison Park in the WSL.
Honoka Hayahi’s 8th minute tap-in proved to be the difference in a crucial clash at the bottom of the table.
The Blues started on the front foot with fight and intensity right from the off. Inma Gabarro had the first sight of goal with a long‑range volley that drifted above the cross-bar.
But Everton didn’t have to wait long to find the breakthrough. Yuka Momiki led the charge through midfield before slipping the ball to Hannah Blundell out wide. The Manchester United loanee delivered a terrific cross across the face of goal, and Hayahi was there to pounce and turn it in.
Gabarro came close again around the 24‑minute mark, firing another powerful volley that West Ham keeper Kinga Szemik did well to get a foot on.
The Spaniard kept troubling Szemik after the break; Ornella Vignola lifted a dangerous ball over the Hammers’ backline before Gabarro’s effort from close range was well blocked by the keeper.
West Ham had their moments, particularly from set pieces and in the second half with a bit more possession, but the Blues defence held firm. Courtney Brosnan made a brilliant late save to tip away a long‑range effort and ensure all three points stayed in the bag.
The Blues now have a Merseyside Derby to look forward to, as they travel to the BrewDog Stadium to face Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday.
