Everton have completed the loan signing of forward Katie Robinson from Aston Villa for the 2025/26 season, with a Club option to make the move permanent.
The England international becomes the Toffees’ sixth signing of the summer transfer window after Spain Under-23s forward Ornella Vignola, promising Netherlands midfielder Rosa van Gool and a trio of Japan internationals: Rion Ishikawa, Hikaru Kitagawa and Yuka Momiki.
After making the switch from Villa, Robinson outlined conversations with Everton manager Brian Sorensen and the chance to play at the Women’s new home, Goodison Park, as her main reasons for joining the Club.
“To be able to play here at Goodison is unbelievable,” the 22-year-old told evertonfc.com. “What an amazing, historic stadium. I can’t wait for that! The Club are really investing in the Women’s team, I think that shows a lot.
“I had some really good conversations with the manager, Brian. I am really excited to get going and give my all for the Club.
“Those conversations definitely helped. He is very clear on his identity for the team. That is really important for me – to be a part of a club that has that clear vision. It made me really excited to be a part of. Hopefully the style of Everton can suit my play, too.”
Despite her young age, Robinson has experience at the top level for both for club and country.
After graduating from Bristol City’s academy, the Cornwall-born forward made her debut for the Robins at the age of 16. A move to WSL outfit Brighton & Hove Albion followed, where Robinson established herself as one of the nation’s hottest prospects.
It was not long before England manager Sarina Wiegman took notice of her stellar performances down the flanks, handing the then 20-year-old her Lionesses debut against Norway in November 2022.
After making the cut for the 2023 Arnold Cup squad, Robinson was named in Wiegman’s 23-player squad for the 2023 World Cup, a tournament which saw England reach the final before being defeated by Spain.
Everton and Sorensen have a rich history of developing young players, and Robinson is looking forward to further honing her skills on Merseyside.
She added: “I am really hoping that, if I can work hard and put in some good performances, I would love to get back in the England squad one day. But, right now, I am just focusing on the day-to-day work and letting the rest take care of itself.
“I’ve seen how other young players have done here and that definitely played a part in my decision to come here, too – seeing that Brian wants to give players opportunities and really develop them.
“That was important for me because I really want to develop as a player as much as possible.”
Sorensen discussed Robinson’s qualities, while outlining what Everton’s newest addition can bring to his squad.
He said: “Katie is a real talent who has shown her capabilities at Aston Villa and Brighton. She is a direct forward, who loves to get forward and take her marker on.
“Her playing style is attacking and exciting, but she is not afraid to put a tackle in and is aware of her defensive responsibilities. She will bolster our attack and provide an extra threat down the wings.
“She is a very humble person and I admire her desire to grow as a player. I know she will give her all and I am sure our fans will take to her immediately.”
